TGS to Conduct Three Seismic Surveys Onshore Canada

Norwegian seismic survey firm TGS announced Tuesday that it has been signed up for three new 3D-3C (three-dimensional, three-component) seismic surveys for several clients.

The surveys – which will cover a total area of 215 square miles and collectively titled 'Kaybob-Bigstone 3D' – are located in West Central Alberta, Canada, near Fox Creek. They will expand TGS's existing coverage along Canada's Duvernay shale fairway.

TGS said the seismic program is designed to assists in the evaluation and development of several zones from the Cretaceous to Devonian, including emerging plays such as the Duvernay and Montney along with established producing zones.

The firm added that using multi-component acquisition will help to develop greater reservoir understanding and will provide the industry with new scientific information to support exploration activities. Processing will be performed by Arcis Seismic Solutions, with initial data available to clients in 2Q 2015.
