Talisman Energy Progresses Development of Vietnam, Malaysia Assets

Off East Malaysia, Talisman has brought onstream six in-fill wells drilled in the Kinabalu oil production sharing contract. The six wells are producing on average 12,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd), bringing total gross production at Kinabalu oilfield to 20,000 bopd.

Talisman is set to drill three exploration wells in Blocks 309 and 310 near the Kinabalu production sharing contract (PSC), using leased jackup Seadrill’s West Vigilant (350’ ILC), which has been mobilized from the six-well program at Kinabalu to drill the wildcat trio off Sabah.

Horn described the prospects in Block 309 and 310 as “prone to liquid hydrocarbon”, holding gross unrisked resources of almost 4 billion barrels across different play types.

Meanwhile, Talisman is optimistic about securing an extension for Block PM3CAA in the overlapping waters between Malaysia and Vietnam beyond 2017, Horn disclosed. The block currently averages just below 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent – one third of the gross output from Talisman’s assets in Malaysia.

Talisman is eyeing the development of the Bunga Pakma field, estimated to hold over 500 million cubic feet of gas resources in place in Block PM3CAA, according to Horn.

Industry players believed that a new wellhead riser platform, to be tied to the central processing platform at the producing Bunga Orkid field – where a pipeline replacement program is reportedly being lined up – will be installed at the small Bunga Pakma gas field.

Bunga Pakma and Bunga Orkid are collectively known as the Northern Fields of PM3CAA, which also hosts six other southern fields – East and West Bunga Kekwa, East and West Bunga Raya, Bunga Seoja and Cai Nuoc.
