Italy's Renzi Happy with Choice of Descalzi as Eni CEO
ROME, Sept 12 (Reuters) – Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said on Friday he was happy he had chosen Claudio Descalzi to lead Italian oil major Eni and would make the same decision again tomorrow.
Renzi's comments, made on a twitter account, came the day after it emerged Descalzi was being probed over alleged corruption relating to a lucrative Nigerian oil deal.
The Italian state controls Eni with a stake of around 30 percent.
Renzi came to office earlier this year pledging to clean up Italian business and introduce ethics rules at publicly-controlled companies, but shareholders at Eni panned the initiative.
