Seabird Gets Letter of Award for 2D Seismic Survey in Australasia

Norway's seismic survey company SeaBird Exploration Plc reported Thursday that the company's Aquila Explorer vessel has received a letter of award for a 2D seismic survey in Australasia.

Under the contract, worth approximately $11 million, the seismic survey will cover a minimum of 6,213 miles (10,000 kilometers). Seabird indicated that the project, which will have an estimated duration of 90 days based on the minimum survey size, is expected to start in the fourth quarter.

In April, the Aquila Explorer, which Seabird converted to a 2D-Source Vessel in 2007, bagged a $5.5 million contract for a seismic survey in the same region.
