Chiyoda-CB&I JV Bags FEED Contract for Golden Pass LNG Export Project
Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) announced Thursday that the firm has been awarded the continuing Front End Engineering Design (FEED) services contract by Golden Pass Products, LLC (GPP), a joint venture between affiliates of Qatar Petroleum International and ExxonMobil, for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities for the Golden Pass LNG Export Project, located near Sabine Pass, Texas.
The scope of work, which will be performed in conjunction with Chiyoda's partner CB&I, includes engineering and design services for the GPP LNG liquefaction and export facilities with a production capacity of 15.6 million tons of LNG per year (5.2 Mtpa x 3 trains), located in Sabine Pass, Texas. The new facility will be collocated at the site of the existing LNG receiving terminal owned and operated by Golden Pass LNG Terminal LLC, an affiliate of GPP. Chiyoda and CB&I successfully completed the pre-FEED and engineering necessary to support Golden Pass' formal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission earlier this year. Chiyoda's partner, CB&I, has extensive experience in the Gulf Coast region, and performed the engineering, procurement and construction of the existing Golden Pass LNG receiving terminal.
Chiyoda has been focusing on the development of natural gas related projects in North America, and this is the fourth contract to be undertaken by Chiyoda in this region. This award illustrates Chiyoda's unparalled position in the North American LNG market, as well as its commitment to the continuing long term relationship with Qatar Petroleum International and ExxonMobil. Chiyoda has a successful track record in executing LNG projects for these clients, including construction of 12 LNG trains in Qatar, the most recent being the largest LNG trains in the world at 7.8 Mtpa per train.
