DONG Completes Siri Appraisal Well

DONG has completed the appraisal well SCB-1X (5605/13-4) at the Siri field in the North Sea. The well was drilled with the jackup, ENSCO 71.

SCB-1X was drilled as a deviated well in order to appraise the area between the Stine Segment 1 and Stine Segment 2 oil deposits situated east of Siri Central. Both deposits contain oil in Paleocene sandstone. The well was spudded February 22, 2004 in approximately 59 meters of water.

As expected, oil was encountered in the Paleocene sandstone reservoir. Coring was undertaken and measurements acquired for further evaluation.

After finalizing SCB-1X, operation was continued with the drilling of the SCB-1 producer. The production well, drilled as a horizontal sidetrack to SCB-1X, was completed April 30, 2004. Following that, the drilling rig was used for installation of sub sea production equipment.

SCB-1 has now been tied back to the Siri process platform. Production was started May 16, 2004.

The 6/95 license group consists of DONG as operator with 50%; Paladin Oil with 30% and DENERCO Oil with the remaining 20%.

The ENSCO 71 has been moved to the Central Graben in order to drill the Fasan-1 exploration well in License 13/98.
