Hunt Oil Announces Management Changes
Hunt Oil Company has named Stephen C. Hurly Executive Vice President, Worldwide Exploration, for the company.
Hurley, who joins Hunt from the recent acquisition of Chieftain International, Inc., will assume the post immediately as well as a place on the Board of Directors of Hunt Oil Company. Jim Jennings, President of Hunt Oil Company said, "We are very pleased that Steve has joined Hunt Oil Company. He has great experience in his previous positions in worldwide exploration and production and he will add substantially to our exploration activities around the world."
Prior to joining Hunt, Hurley was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chieftain International, Inc. and was a member of its board of directors. He first joined Chieftain in 1995. Before his work with Chieftain, he was Vice President of Exploration and Production for Murphy Exploration and Production Company in 1991 and was responsible for Murphy Oil Corporation's worldwide exploration efforts. He held a variety of technical and management positions at Ocean Drilling Exploration Company, which he joined in 1979, and where he became Exploration Manager in 1981, General Manager of Exploration in 1984, and Vice President of Exploration in 1987. Hurley began his career with Exxon Company USA.
Hurley is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Master of Science degree in Geology. His advanced degree in business studies is from Harvard University. Hurley is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, an AAPG House Delegate 1991-1994, the New Orleans Geological Society, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the American Petroleum Institute, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the National Ocean Industries Association, the Board of Directors for the Dallas Petroleum Club, former Chairman of the Dallas Wildcat Committee and other professional organizations.
