Gulfsands Restarts Drilling Operations at Rharb Centre Onshore Morocco
Independent oil and gas explorer Gulfsands Petroleum reported Friday that it has restarted drilling operations within its Rharb Centre Permit in northern Morocco using the COFOR SAS Cabot 750 rig. The firm is currently drilling the Lalla Yetou Updip-1 gas exploration well (LTU-1) on the permit.
LTU-1 is designed to be drilled to a total vertical depth of approximately 3,870 feet and will evaluate predicted Miocene-aged sandstone reservoirs contained within a fault-bound structural closure that have been identified from 3D seismic data as having potential to be gas bearing. LTU-1 is located up dip structurally from a previous well – Lalla Yetou-3 – that found gas-bearing sands.
Gulfsands said it expects drilling operations at LTU-1 to be completed within 28 days.
Gulfsands CEO Mahdi Sajjad commented in a company statement:
"We are very pleased that the company has re-commenced drilling operations in Morocco and we look forward to seeing the results of this next well."
