Leni Hits Oil with Trinidad Well

Junior explorer Leni Gas & Oil reported Tuesday that the second of 30 new development wells on its Goudron property onshore Trinidad has been successfully cased, cemented and electronically logged. The firm added that it has received a report from its petrophysical consultants that indicates the well has intersected a net oil pay in the Goudron sands of 270 feet within the interval ranging from 590 to 1,440 feet.

Leni said the well, GY-665, is currently being deepened to the primary target in the Gros Morne sandstones – which are estimated to start at a depth of 2,100 feet.

Well GY-665 is the first of four planned wells from the same drill pad and is located 800 feet southwest of GY-664.

Leni Chief Executive Neil Ritson commented in a company statement:

"It is pleasing to see that GY-665 has followed in the footsteps of GY-664, with a 270 feet net oil interval in the secondary target Goudron sands. Operations to deepen the well to the Gros Morne are progressing well and we look forward to being able to update the market on the results in due course."
