Su Tu Den Production Reaches 85,000 bpd

Production from the Su Tu Den field offshore Vietnam has reached an average 85,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2004 up from 60,000 bpd last year when it first came on stream.

In June another production increase to 95,000 bpd is expected when more wells are added, officials from Petrovietnam said.

Su Tu Den (Black Lion) is the country's biggest offshore oil success since Bach Ho, which produces 70 percent of Vietnam's total output of around 400,000 bpd.

Su Tu Den is estimated to hold reserves of more than 400 million barrels.

Petrovietnam holds a 50% stake in the field; ConocoPhillips holds a 23.25% stake' SK Corp holds 9% and Geopetrol holds the remaining 3.5%.
