India's PESB Selects N K Verma to be ONGV Videsh's New Managing Director

India's Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) selected state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. (ONGC)'s Director (Exploration) Narendra Kumar Verma to be the next managing director of the firm's upstream subsidiary ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL), the PESB indicated on its website.

Verma succeeds Dinesh Kumar Sarraf, who left the OVL post earlier this year to become chairman and managing director of ONGC. The new managing director was selected ahead of three other ONGC executives, Vikas Tayal, S K Moitra and A Balachandran as well as OVL's Satpal Garg and Indian Oil Corp. Ltd.'s Rajiv Khanna.

His 30-year career covered exploration and technological research. Verma held positions ranging from management of overseas exploration and business development as director (Exploration), OVL; management of exploration activities in Frontier Basin, Mumbai Offshore and Assam-Arakan Basin; and head of Interpretation Group at the Geodata Processing and Interpretation Centre (GEOPIC) of ONGC.

Verma also had spells working extensively on Western Offshore, Assam & Assam-Arakan, NW Himalaya, Ganga, Rewa-Satpura and Vindhyan Basins in India. He has previously involved in assessing the blocks/basins in Vietnam Offshore, Indonesian Offshore, Myanmar Offshore, Qatar, Iran Onland / Offshore, Middle and North Caspian.

He has a Masters Degree, M.Sc (Spl), in Applied Geology, an M. Tech degree in Petroleum Exploration and MBA in Finance.
