CNOOC Finds Gas at Bozhong 22-1-2 Well in China's Bohai Bay

CNOOC discovers gas at Bozhong 22-1-2 exploration well in China's Bohai Bay.

CNOOC Limited recently made a mid-sized natural gas discovery Bozhong 22-1 in China's Bohai Bay, the company said Monday.

The Bozhong 22-1 structure is located in south central Bohai Bay in average water depth of about 82 feet (25 meters). The discovery well Bozhong 22-1-2, drilled and completed at a depth of 15,127 feet (4,611 meters), encountered gas reservoir with a total thickness of about 301 feet (92 meters).

Gas production at the 22-1-2 well was tested around 14.2 million cubic feet per day.

"The discovery of Bozhong 22-1 demonstrates the good prospects of buried hills for future gas exploration of south slope in Bozhong Sag," CNOOC said in a press release.
