Scomi, Handal Collaborate to Seek Businesses in Africa, ME
Scomi Oiltools Sdn Bhd (Scomi Oiltools), the Malaysian oilfield services unit of Scomi Energy Services Bhd (formerly known as Scomi Marine Bhd) (SESB) reported Thursday that the company has entered into an agreement to explore opportunities for collaboration with integrated offshore crane services provider and fabricator Handal Resources Berhad to supply modular workover rig, offshore pedestal cranes and related operations, repair and maintenance services to oilfields in Africa and Middle East.
Under the Memorandum of Agreement signed, both parties will formalize working arrangements in relation to the proposed collaboration within the next six months.

This collaboration, leveraging on each other’s strengths will allow promotion of home grown solutions in countries where Scomi has presence. This includes Nigeria, Congo as well as Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates. We hope this will pave way to more future collaborations where Malaysian companies are better able to work together in foreign land, promoting Malaysian services and expertise worldwide,” said Shah Hakim Zain, CEO, SESB.
