Chariot Begins 2D Seismic Survey Offshore Namibia
Junior explorer Chariot Oil & Gas reported Thursday that it has begun a 2D seismic survey over Southern Block 2714B offshore Namibia, which was re-awarded to the company in June 2013.
Chariot has contracted Dolphin Geophysical to carry out a 1,320-mile 2D seismic data acquisition campaign in water depths of up to 6,070 feet.
Dolphin will use the Artemis Atlantic seismic survey vessel to acquire broadband 2D seismic data across the block in order to provide further detail on the shallower petroleum system. By combining this with legacy 2D data, which Chariot is currently reprocessing, the company will be able to determine specific regions of interest for designing a focused 3D program in the future.
The survey is expected to take 21 days to complete. It will fulfil Chariot’s initial four-year work commitment in the license.
Chariot holds an 85-percent stake in the block and is its operator. NAMCOR and Quiver Oil hold 10-percent and five-percent respectively.
