Woodside Makes Discovery at Blacktip One

Woodside Petroleum Ltd. announced the discovery of hydrocarbons at their Blacktip One exploration well off the coast of Western Australia in the remote Bonaparte Basin Woodside, which operates the giant North West Shelf gas project off the same coast, reports that the well contains a cumulative 188 meter gross hydrocarbon column from five separate intervals. It was not specified whether the hydrocarbons were oil or natural gas. The well was drilled by Transocean Sedco Forex's jackup, Ron Tappmeyer in approximately 164 feet of water. Woodside is the operator in the permit with a 35 percent interest, Shell Development (Australia) Pty. Ltd. has a 35 percent interest and Eni (E) unit AGIP Australia BV holds the remaining 30 percent.
