Beach Energy Spuds Butlers-8 Well in PEL 92 in Cooper Basin

Australian oil and gas exploration and production company Cooper Energy Limited announced Wednesday that Butlers-8, an oil development well, located in PEL 92 on the western flank of the Cooper Basin, South Australia was spud Tuesday Oct. 15 at 10:30 hours. The rig is currently drilling ahead in the 12.25 inch surface hole.

Butlers-8, a deviated well located 377 feet (115 meters) northeast of Butlers-4, is prognosed to drill to a total depth of approximately 5,413 feet (1,650 meters) to accelerate production from the Namur Sandstone. The well will also test the deeper Birkhead Formation. Drilling results are expected mid next week.

After drilling and evaluation of Butlers-8, the rig will move to the Callawonga oil field, also in PEL 92, where Callawonga-9 will be drilled to further accelerate production from the Namur Sandstone reservoir, as well as test the deeper Birkhead Formation secondary target.

Cooper Energy holds a 25 percent interest in PEL 92 with the balance held by the Operator, Beach Energy Limited.
