Songa Appoints New COO
Rig operator Songa Offshore reported Monday that it has appointed a new chief operating officer. Mark Bessell will take over as COO on October 21, reporting to Songa CEO Bjornar Iversen.
Bessell joins Songa from Transocean, where he has worked for more than 20 years holding a number of senior positions.
Commenting on Bessell's appointment, Iversen said in a company statement:
"I have been working closely with the board of directors to create what we believe to be the strongest and most dynamic management team in our industry. The appointment of Mark Bessell is entirely aligned with this strategy.
"Mark is widely recognized as one of our industry's top performers. As such he provides extensive strength and depth to our management team. Mark's solid multi-disciplinary experience and operational knowledge will deliver clear service and performance improvements to our customers and I welcome him to our team."
