Orca Updates on Burruna-2 Oil Discovery in PEL 115 in Cooper Basin
Australia-listed Orca Energy Limited reported Wednesday that operator Senex Energy Limited (Senex) has provided an update on the Burruna-2 oil exploration well in the southern Cooper Basin permit PEL 115 in South Australia.
Burruna‐2 (OGY 20 percent)
Senex have confirmed the Burruna‐2 oil discovery has been completed for production and surface facilities are now being connected. An extended production test is expected to commence next week. Burruna‐2 intersected 17.4 feet (5.3 meters) of net oil pay in the Namur Formation and free‐flowed oil to surface at a rate of more than 750 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
In addition, Senex cut feet 59 feet (18 meters) of core through the Murta Formation, which is currently being analyzed to aid in the design of production enhancement techniques. Free oil was observed with the recovered core and hydrocarbon fluorescence was noted over a gross interval of 45.9 feet (14 meters), further confirming the potential of the regionally extensive Murta Formation to deliver incremental production within joint venture (JV) acreage.
