Lamprell Wins Rig Order
Dubai-based offshore engineering and construction firm Lamprell reported Friday that it has received an order from an unnamed international drilling contractor for the delivery of a completely outfitted LeTourneau-designed jack-up rig.
Lamprell said it will fabricate the rig at its Hamriyah facility in Sharjah, with delivery expected during the first quarter of 2015.
Lamprell CEO James Moffat commented in a company statement:
"I am delighted to be able to announce this new contract award from a highly valued customer for the construction of a Super 116E jack-up rig. Lamprell has a track record for constructing jack-up rigs to very high safety and quality standards and we have confidence in our ability to deliver this project as planned.
"We continue to see a good bid pipeline and are focused on capitalising on the growth opportunities we see in the group's core markets."
On Thursday the firm reported that it had swung back into profit after reporting pre-tax earnings of $10.1 million for the first half of 2013, compared with a $50.8 million loss in 1H 2012.
