Bibby Offshore Selects Mermaid's Unit Subtech for North Sea Job
Thailand-based Mermaid Maritime Public Company Limited reported that its wholly owned subsidiary Subtech Ltd. (Subtech) has been awarded a subsea services contract with Bibby Offshore Limited for work in the North Sea.
Under the contract, Mermaid will provide Bibby Offshore with a DP2 (dynamic positioning 2) Dive Support Vessel "Mermaid Endurer" for inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services as well as light construction intervention. The contract, scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2014 and complete in the fourth quarter 2014, includes options for extension subject to mutual agreement.
DSV Mermaid Endurer will arrive in the North Sea in early 2014 and will be marketed for opportunities in the spot market prior to the commencement of the contract.
“The Mermaid Endurer was built in Norway, specifically for these conditions, and we are confident that we can fulfill Bibby Offshore’s expectations,” Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, Mermaid Maritime CEO said in a company release.
“This contract marks Mermaid’s successful re-entry into the North Sea market at a particularly exciting time over there. The contract covers all facets of the Mermaid group namely, Mermaid Offshore’s marine division, Subtech’s diving, inspection and IRM division, Subtech’s ROV (remotely operated vehicle) department and Seascape’s survey division,” Paul Whiley, executive director of Mermaid’s subsea division said.
