Scana Wins Contract from SHI for Ichthys Project
Norway's Scana Industrier ASA announced that its subsidiary Scana Steel Stavanger was awarded a new contract, worth $6.1 million (NOK 36 million), by Samsung Heavy Industry (SHI) to deliver steel casting for the Ichthys project off the north-west coast of Western Australia.
The latest contract brought the total amount received from SHI to $15.8 million (NOK 93 million) as the South Korean company had previously placed orders with Scana for the same project. Work on the project will commence immediately, with deliveries to be completed by the end of 2013.
"The new contract includes approximately 60 casting components which are part of the mooring system for the Ichthys project," Scana said in an announcement on Norway's Oslo Bors.
SHI was awarded the contract by Inpex to construct the semisubmersible central processing facilities platform for the Ichthys project.
