Wood Group Contracted for Fyne FEED Work
UK-based junior explorer Enegi Oil reported Wednesday that Wood Group has been contracted by its partner ABTechnology to conduct FEED (front-end engineering design) work for the Fyne oilfield in the UK North Sea.
Enegi, ABTechnology and Antrim Resources agreed in early July, after Enegi and ABT farmed into the Fyne field, to prepare an amended field development plan (FDP) for the development of the field using ABT's production buoy technology.
Pre-FEED and FEED studies conducted by Wood Group will refine the generic production buoy design in order to incorporate the specific requirements that are associated with the Fyne field. Enegi said it expects these to be completed to sufficient detail by the autumn.
Enegi CEO Alan Minty commented in a company statement:
"We are delighted to have Wood Group PSN working with us on this project given their capability and expertise. Considerable progress has already been made on the pre-FEED and FDP since we entered this project with all the partners working together to ensure that the deliverables are completed on schedule and the final FDP is delivered to DECC [the Department of Energy and Climate Change] in good time."
Wood Group UK Managing Director Dave Stewart added:
"ABT's buoy solution offers an exceptional opportunity to develop a significant proportion of reserves in the North Sea, as well as globally, that would otherwise remain untapped. We are very excited to be working with the partners in providing an innovative development solution for the Fyne field and look forward to working on further marginal field projects with the ABT and Enegi teams in the future."
In a separate statement Wednesday Enegi announced that its farm-in deal with Black Spruce Exploration (BSE) for its Newfoundland assets has been completed. Enegi said that work has already begun on defining a drilling program for a new well on production license 2002-01(A), which is to be drilled later this year following the anticipated arrival of BSE's drilling rig.
