JKX Recompletes NN-71 Well in Ukraine

Eastern Europe-focused JKX Oil & Gas reported Thursday that its NN-71 well on the NovoNikolaevskoye field in Ukraine has been successfully recompleted through to the Visean V-15 sandstone reservoir.

JKX said that following a three-stage test the well is producing at a stabilized rate of 4.3 million cubic feet of gas per day and 342 barrels of oil per day of condensate through a 93/64-inch choke with a flowing wellhead pressure of 625 pounds per square inch.

The firm said that the results indicate that the reservoir still has good pressure support in spite of previous production from this reservoir at nearby well NN-9 having been producing hydrocarbons for more than 28 years. Static and dynamic modeling is now underway to analyze the remaining hydrocarbons in place.

JKX said that early indications are that these may be sufficiently encouraging to support the addition of a flank well.

The NN-71 well was first drilled in in 2009 as a Visean V-25 reservoir well and subsequently recompleted to the V-16 as part of the early development of the NovoNikolaevskoya production license at Poltava, Ukraine. Both of these deeper reservoirs no longer produce at this well location.
