Aker Boosts Asset Integrity Services with Acquisition
Aker Solutions reported late Tuesday that it has acquired UK specialist engineering company International Design Engineering and Services (IDEAS) to improve the Norwegian firm's asset integrity management services.
IDEAS has developed technology to improve the quality and accuracy of integrity and life-time analysis for oil and gas assets. The firm's software can be applied in all phases of the development of an installation, from design through to construction, operation and life extension.
"This technology strengthens our offering of asset integrity management services," Tore Sjursen, head of Aker's maintenance and modifications business, said.
"It can be used to predict the lifetime of an installation in a more effective manner. It also helps us plan more targeted maintenance and inspection activities, and increases the quality and precision of our services."
Aker's asset integrity management services are aimed at helping its clients reduce risk and increase utilization across their installations.
