Hooper-1 Spuds in Australia's Cooper Basin
Australia-listed Cooper Energy Limited announced that Hooper-1, an exploration well in PEL 92, Cooper Basin, South Australia, was spud July 6 at 09:30 hours (local time). At 06:00 hours (local time) July 8, the well operation was running 8.5 inch drilling assembly into the hole to then drill out casing shoe at 1,946 feet (593 meters).
Hooper-1 will be drilled on a 3D seismic defined anticline in the north-west of PEL 92 and has an expected total depth of 5,971 feet (1,820 meters). Total depth is expected to be reached in 7 days.
The primary target of Hooper-1 is the Namur Sandstone. Hooper-1 is located approximately 5.6 miles (9 kilometers) west-northwest of the Rincon oil field and will investigate the westerly oil migration from Rincon North-1.
Joint Venture participants in PEL 92 are Cooper Energy (25 percent) and Beach Energy Limited (Operator, 75 percent).
