Songa Elects New Board of Directors

Norwegian rig operator Songa Offshore announced Friday that it has made two changes to its board of directors. Michael Mannering, president of Schlumberger's Rig Management Group, has been elected chairman while Songa's largest shareholder, Frederik Wilhelm Mohn, has been elected as a new director.

Mannering has more than 30 years' experience in the international drilling industry and is also chairman of Saxon Energy Services – a Canadian drilling contractor that operates 95 land rigs. He replaces Jens A Wilhelmsen.

The firm also confirmed the reelection of directors Steven James McTiernan, Arnaud Bobillier, Arne Blystad and Nancy Erotocritou.

"Songa now has a world-class board - perhaps the most experienced of all comparable rig operators," CEO Bjørnar Iversen said in a company statement.
