Ukraine Well Sidetrack Exceeds Expectations
JKX Oil & Gas reported Thursday that the second sidetrack of its M-166X well in Ukraine has exceeded expectations.
The well, which is in the Devonian sandstone reservoir in the Molchanovskoye North field, achieved a flow rate of 1,710 barrels of oil per day over 12 hours, with 2.13 million cubic feet per day of gas through a 1.125-inch choke with a flowing wellhead pressure of 600 pounds per square inch. JKX said that, after further testing, a lower choke size will be chosen to optimize flow conditions and manage the reservoir.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 9,650 feet and penetrated a 680 feet of a reservoir along its planned horizontal trajectory.
M-166X is JKX’s first well in its 2013 Ukrainian drilling campaign following a seven-month drilling break. The firm confirmed that the Skytop N-75 rig has now spud well IG-132 (Ignatovskoye), targeting the shallower Tournaisian Carbonate reservoir in the Molchanovskoye field.
JKX Chief Executive Dr Paul Davies commented in a company statement:
"Test production from the second sidetrack of well M-166 is above our original prediction and is an excellent start to our 2013 Ukrainian drilling program."
