Duffy & McGovern Australia Wins ENSCO Work

Duffy and McGovern has secured a AU$82,000 deal with ENSCO in Western Australia through its partner and representative in Perth, LODIOS.

The Aberdeen-based supplier of temporary offshore accommodation units appointed Australian firm LODIOS to act as its agent in Australia in 2003 and is now one of the leading suppliers of offshore accommodation in Western Australia, being the only company in the region capable of providing DNV2.7.1-compliant accommodation.

The year-long deal with leading offshore oil and gas drilling contractors ENSCO International Inc, sees Duffy and McGovern and LODIOS providing accommodation for the ENSCO jackup rig 104 as part of a complete package.

Duffy and McGovern will supply a high specification, 20 x 8ft module to be utilized as additional office space in a Zone 1 area of the rig. The A60 module, which is fire-test procedure (FTP) compliant, is also in accordance with the recently withdrawn APPEA guidelines for offshore containers which are largely based on DNV 2.7.1 and are still commonly sought after by operators.

ENSCO's requirement for a basic offshore module for a smoking shelter, also for use on the jackup rig 104, will be met by LODIOS using equipment sourced locally in Australia.

"Our partnership with LODIOS and our unrivalled ability to provide high specification units is putting us in a strong position in the Western Australian market and demand for our product is growing steadily as a result," explains Duffy and McGovern managing director Craig McLeish. "Many of our existing customers were already operating in this area and the LODIOS partnership has enabled us to extend the level of support we can offer to them as well as providing attractive packages to new customers, such as in this case with ENSCO."

ENSCO's jackup rig 104 is working on a long-term contract with ConocoPhillips on the Bayu-Undan gas field development offshore Western Australia.
