Total to Drill Garantiana Sidetrack
Anglo-Norwegian oil explorer Bridge Energy announced Wednesday that its partner Total is drilling a sidetrack to the Garantiana well, which was reported to have discovered an oil accumulation on Oct. 26.
The Borgland Dolphin (mid-water semisub) rig will drill the sidetrack, which has been designated 34/6-2A. The purpose of the sidetrack is to prove up additional oil volumes in the Garantiana Cook formation and to determine oil/water contact.
Last week, Bridge reported that the discovery well flowed oil at 4,000 barrels per day.
Bridge has a 20-percent interest in Norwegian production license 554, where the Garantiana well is located. Total E&P Norge is the operator with a 40-percent interest, while Det norske oljeselskap and Svenska Petroleum Exploraiton also each have a 20-percent interest.
