Scarabeo 8 Gets Go-Ahead to Drill Goliat

Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority announced late Tuesday that it has given its consent for Eni Norge to carry on with drilling using the Scarabeo 8 (UDW semisub) mobile drilling facility, which was involved in a listing incident in the Barents Sea at the start of September.

The consent means that Eni Norge can now drill the appraisal well 7122/7 on the Goliat field, which is part of production license 229. The operation is expected to last 50 days.

The rig was previously used to drill the exploration well 7220/10-1 on the Salina prospect within the PL533 license when the listing incident occurred. After the rig regained stability, the PSA allowed Eni Norge to continue drilling that well, but later started an investigation into the incident.
