Gas Well Blowout Kills 2 In Texas

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two people were killed and five injured when a natural gas well exploded around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Leon County, Texas approximately four miles southwest of Buffalo. Approximately 10 to 12 Halliburton workers were present when the rig crew was attempting to relieve the pressure in a wellhead line. The blast caused pipe to be blown out of the rig. Of the five injured, three are in critical condition with severe burns. The victim's identities have not yet been released. The cause of the accident is under investigation by state and federal authorities.
