SWS Offshore Awards OCS Group 2nd Jackup Support Team Contract

Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has issued another contract with OCS Group for a design and engineering support team for two Friede & Goldman JU2000E jackups.

This marks the 2nd new-build contract that SWS Offshore has awarded OCS in the last two years for design / engineering / commissioning support.

The projects are the independent leg cantilever Jackups -- JU2000Es, designed by Friede & Goldman. The rigs will capable of harsh environment operations in water depths of up to 400 feet of water, and the rigs will be equipped to drill high pressure / high temperature and wells to 35,000 feet.

"We are very pleased that SWS has continued to opt to use OCS for this newbuild jackup projects to provide design, engineering and commissioning services, a proven quality service that has been well accepted by the industry," said Mark Tranfield, managing director of the OCS Group. "These are the sixth and the seventh rigs OCS is currently engaged on in China in the past three years. We believe that our solid international experiences will not only position OCS as one of the top project management and support service companies in China but also help the shipyard promote their own quality product and image in the industry."

The OCS Group will be assisting SWS Offshore in providing technical advice as well as guiding in the equipment selection, design and detailing, provision of commissioning procedures, schedule and philosophy development, coordination of the mechanical completions and commissioning activities with the shipyard, and handover of documentation.

This further contract with SWS Offshore became effective on Jan. 1, 2012 and the vessel is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2014.
