qedi's Global Growth Creates New U.S. Jobs
Global completions and commissioning company qedi, which specialises in technology and expertise for the energy industry, is planning to create more than 100 new jobs in North America after expanding its position and markets in the U.S.
Increasing demand for qedi's industry-leading technology and capabilities, combined with its international track record, has seen the company rapidly expand across North America including Canada and the Gulf of Mexico, as well taking its expertise from oil and gas into both the unconventional oil & gas and minerals & metals sectors.
qedi, which is part of international engineering and project management company AMEC, has seen its Houston office more than double its turnover and more than treble its employee numbers over the past three years.
Chris Abrusley, qedi's general director for the Americas, said: "qedi has experienced exceptional growth across the US which underlines the global recognition of our niche consultancy services and proprietary GoTechnology® suite of applications which qedi have designed to deliver technical integrity standardisation through the development of technical industry solutions.
"There has been further heightened interest in qedi's technology and expertise in the Gulf of Mexico where it is great to see qedi building strong relationships with clients in some of the most important and high profile oil and gas projects in the region. qedi has also seen the unconventional oil & gas and minerals & metals markets rapidly emerging as exciting, new areas of growth for the business.
Stuart McLeod, qedi managing director, said: "qedi is well placed in the Gulf of Mexico, further strengthened by AMEC's strong presence in the region with qedi's key market differentiator being our specialist GoTechnology.
"Through our continued investment in people and processes, we anticipate recruiting a further 100 people over the next 18 months in the US including developing a dedicated technology group in Houston."
qedi's expansion in the US bolsters its network of strategically positioned locations in oil and gas hubs around the globe including the UK, Caspian, Middle East, North America and Australasia, all supported by AMEC's global network. qedi is currently working on a number of major CAPEX and operational projects across a number of markets in these areas. Last year, the company also opened a new office in Calgary, Canada, and appointed Martyn Canham as general director.
The company's success is underpinned by its world-leading GoTechnology® applications which are fast becoming global industry standard for ensuring technical and asset integrity. The technology has been endorsed by a rapidly increasing number of industry operators and engineering and procurement companies as industry best practice for completions, commissioning and flawless start-up.
