Saudi Aramco Makes Gas Discovery at Al-Sahibah Field

Natural gas was discovered in Al-Shaibah field at an average of 20 million cubic feet and 650 barrels of condensates a day, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi announced.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, the minister pointed out that Saudi Aramco discovered gas at a depth of 7815 feet in the field in the Eastern Region of the Kingdom.

He added that the importance of this discovery lies in being carried out in new zones where non-associated gas has not been discovered, noting that the well is located at 600 kilometers, southeastern Dhahran and 800 kilometers southeastern Riyadh.

"The new discovery added a vital and important dimension to Al-Shaibah field that produces an average of 500,000 barrels per day of very light Arabian oil," Al-Naimi said.
