San Leon to Start Drilling Poland Well

Thursday, March 08, 2012San Leon Energy has spud the Szymkowo-1 well on its Szczawno Concession in the Baltic Basin, Poland. The well, which is operated by Talisman Energy Poland, is designed to test the deep unconventional gas potential of the Lower Silurian, Ordovician and Upper Cambrian. This is the third well in the initial three well program in the Baltic Basin with Talisman. The Szymkowo-1 well will be the southernmost and deepest penetration of the Paleozoic section in the Baltic Basin.
Oisin Fanning, Chairman of San Leon, commented, "As we continue to understand the geology of the Paleozoic section in the Baltic Basin we are excited to move to the southern portion of the basin and test the deeper zone which we believe to have very high potential for gas."
