CGG Installs New Data Processing Solution In Tashkent

CGG has been awarded a major contract for the delivery of a new geophysical data processing solution to Uzbekgeofizika for its Tashkent center. The contract includes the upgrade of existing hardware with a SGI 16 CPU parallel processor running the latest version of CGG's Geovecteur (8.1) software and including its GeoVista depth imaging application.

Uzbekgeofizika intends to capitalize on this new processing capacity to apply full processing including imaging to a 3D survey it recently acquired over a 280 sq km area of the oilfield in the Central Fergana Basin. According to Tashpulat Babadjanov, Uzbekgeofizika General Director: "We believe that with the very latest processing technology delivered in this contract, we shall be able to fully process all Uzbekistan seismic data in the future."

According to Guillaume CAMBOIS, Executive Vice President of CGG Data Processing & Reservoir Services: "This contract builds on CGG's continuing co-operation with Uzbekgeofizika which began with the installation of the initial Tashkent center in 1999. CGG is committed to providing Uzbekgeofizika with our most recent advances in data processing and imaging technologies to meet their specific exploration requirements."
