Total Hits Oil Pay Offshore Nigeria
Total's subsidiary, Total E&P Nigeria (TEPNG), has made an oil discovery in the southeastern corner of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 102 offshore Nigeria.
The discovery was made through the Etisong North-1 well in 262 feet of water. Drilled by the SeaWolf Oritsetimeyin (300' ILC), the Etisong North-1 well reached a total depth of 7,831 feet. According to Rigzone's RigLogix Database, the F&G Super M2-designed unit has a rated drilling depth of 25,000 feet and has been working for Total since January 2010.
Total said that one of the three reservoirs encountered, tested at 8,500 barrels per day of 40 degrees API oil. This is the second discovery in the lease, following the Etisong Main find in 2008. This discovery will increase the feasibility of a new development hub in OML 102.
The license is operated by TEPNG with a 40 percent interest, while NNPC holds the remaining interest.
