TCO UK Wraps Up Apache Gig
TCO In-Well Technologies UK has successfully completed a Glass Barrier System well opening application for Apache North Sea Limited.
The operation, thought to be worth a five figure sum, involved TCO UK's patented TDP-I Glass Plug being deployed on the Apache operated Forties Delta Platform on well FD3-5. The plug was used to isolate the reservoir allowing the operator to test for integrity before opening the well.
TCO UK Sales and Marketing Manager Rob Grassick, who is also chairman of industry body ICOTA, said, "This was the second subsea well opening that TCO has completed in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) in recent months, the last one being the first of its kind in UK waters."
"As the company has only been in operation for 19 months it is a real achievement to have successfully completed this kind of work for such a major company."
Joel Rodriguez, senior completions engineer at Apache, said, "The TCO TDP-I plug, set at almost 4000 meters at 71 degrees, opened on the prescribed pressure cycle, eliminating the need for an additional intervention run. We appreciate TCO's efforts in the planning and design of the plug and thank those involved in the successful execution phase."
TCO UK's completion technologies provide elegant solutions to operational challenges. Its laminated glass ISO 14310 VO certified isolation and barrier plugs are currently the only technology of its kind available to the market.
The firm's in-well technologies provide innovative solutions to oil majors' operational challenges both in the UK and globally.
