Shell Restarts Production from Brent Charlie Platform

Shell has restarted natural gas production from its Brent Charlie platform in the North Sea which closed last September after a fatal accident on the nearby Brent Bravo complex.

"Charlie's up and running and producing. Gas exports restarted yesterday," Jake Malloy, general secretary of the Offshore Liaison Committee said. Oil production had resumed at the weekend, he added.

Shell declined to confirm the union official's comments but said the field was on track to restart in the first quarter. Brent Charlie produces 6.1 million cubic feet (172,728 cu meters) a day of gas and 8,000 barrels of oil.
