Chevron Awards Contract for Newbuild Transocean Jackup
Chevron Corp. has awarded a three-year contract for Transocean’s yet-unnamed Keppel FELS Super B class jackup TBN3, which is under construction, Transocean reported in its fleet status report on Sept. 15.
Chevron will use the newbuild rig for a drilling program offshore Thailand, which is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013 following completion of construction, sea trials, mobilization to Thailand and customer acceptance.
The contract day rate is $145,000, excluding escalation, Transocean reported. The newbuild rig will be capable of operating in water depths of up to 350 feet and drilling to a total depthof 35,000 feet.
