Shell Says Howe Field to Begin Production Later This Year

Shell has awarded infrastructure contracts for its Howe North Sea oilfield, which is scheduled to begin production later this year.

The Howe Field has estimated reserves of 34 million barrels of oil equivalent, would be produced through a single well tie back.

Shell awarded the Christmas Tree and wellhead contract to ABB Vetco Grey, the 14-kilometer steel umbilical contract to Kvaerner Norway, and the subsea control design and fabrication contract to Kvaerner.

Technip was awarded the contract for the production pipeline (8-inch and 12-inch pipe in pipe system) and four-inch gas lift pipeline.

Howe was discovered in 1987 and acquired by Shell as part of its takeover of Enterprise Oil Plc in 2002. It was approved for development by the UK Department of Trade and Industry in December 2003.
