Kosmos' Makore-1 Well All Wet

Kosmos Energy announced that the Makore-1 exploration well, located on the West Cape Three Points Block offshore Ghana, has encountered 121 feet (37 meters) of good quality Campanian-age water-bearing sandstone reservoirs and 151 feet (46 meters) of exceptional quality Turonian-age water-bearing sandstone reservoirs.

The Makore-1 well is the first well in the southeastern portion of the block. Drilled by the Atwood Hunter semisub in a water depth of 4,623 feet (1,409 meters), the well reached a total depth of 12,717 feet (3,876 meters). The semisub will remain in the area to drill the Akasa-1 exploratory well, formerly known as the Dahoma Up-dip prospect. Drilling should begin shortly.

Kosmos Energy operates the the block with a 30.857% interest; Anadarko holds 30.875%; Tullow Oil holds 22.896%; E.O. Group Limited holds 3.5%; Sabre Oil & Gas holds 1.854%; and the Ghana National Petroleum has a 10% carried interest.
