Bowleven's Sapele Sidetrack Tests Positive Offshore Cameroon
Bowleven announced that its Sapele-1 sidetrack appraisal well off the coast of Cameroon flowed light oil during a drill stem test. The well flowed 3,101 barrels of oil equivalent a day; and gas to oil ratio are comparable to that found in the Sapele-1 well.
The well, located in a water depth of 82 feet (25 meters) around 1 mile (2 kilometers) southeast of the Deep Omicron oil discovery, reached a TVD of 11,923 feet (3,634 meters). The operator conducted a drill stem test at Sapele-1ST over a 233 feet (71 meter) perforated interval. The interval flowed at a stabilized rate of 2,023 bopd of 39.2 degree API oil and nearly 6.47 MMcf/d of associated gas on a 56/64 inch choke.
Bowleven will further appraise the find to understand the resource potential, but the results have thus far encouraged the company. A testing program commenced on the Sapele-2 well with results expected soon. Sapele is located in Block MLHP-5 in the Etinde Permit, offshore Cameroon.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
