NPD Gives E.ON Ruhrgas Go-Ahead for North Sea Drilling



The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted E.ON Ruhrgas a drilling permit for wellbore 31/8-1 using the Borgland Dolphin semisub.

The drilling program for wellbore 31/8-1 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in Production License 416 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The well will be drilled about 9 miles (15 kilometers) southwest of Troll and approximately 19 miles (30 kilometers) southeast of Brage. This is the first well drilled in the license.

Serving as operator of the license is E.ON holding a 50% interest; Rocksource holds 35%; and Det norske holds the remaining 15%.
