Lundin Commences Malaysian Drilling Campaign

Lundin Petroleum has commenced exploratory drilling on the Tarap-1 well, located in the SB 303 block offshore Sabah, East Malaysia. Drilling of this well kicks-off Lundin’s Malaysian five-well drilling campaign in 2011.

The well, targeting Miocene sandstones in the Kindu sub basin, is being drilled by the Offshore Courageous jackup in a water depth of 230 feet (70 meters). Tarap-1 is a deviated well, directionally drilled to intersect a series of stacked seismic anomalies, with a planned total depth of 7,021 feet (2,140 meters).

Lundin Petroleum holds a 75% operating interest in SB 303 through its subsidiary Lundin Malaysia BV, while Petronas holds the remaining interest.
