KCA Wins North Sea Drilling Contract

KCA DEUTAG will provide drilling services fro Statoil’s Kvitebjorn gas and condensate field offshore Norway. The contract is for a primary period of two years with the option to extend by two further periods of two years each.

KCA will apply managed pressure drilling (MPD) technology to drill in the depleted reservoir at a depth of 13,123 feet (4,000 meters) with high temperatures and under high pressure. KCA has been working closely with Statoil to develop MPD for drilling at Kvitebjorn, located on Block 34/11, east of Gullfaks.
