EnCore Sidetrack Delivers Additional Pay
Premier Oil, a partner in the North Sea Block 28/9, announced that the Burgman sidetrack well 28/9-4z has encountered hydrocarbons in the targeted Lower Tay sandstone interval.
The well was directionally drilled to a total depth of 5,237 feet (1,596 meters). Initial analysis indicates a net oil pay of 135 feet (41 meters) over a gross reservoir interval of 135 feet (41 meters) equivalent to 64 feet (20 meters) of net vertical pay over gross vertical interval of 64 feet (20 meters).
Furthermore, preliminary log analysis indicates an average porosity of 38%, with initial estimates suggesting that the discovery holds about 80 to 120 MMbbls. Drilling is now concluded on Block 28/9 and following completion of this well, the Transocean GSF Galaxy II jackup will demobilize.
Burgman is located on Block 28/9 in the UK sector of the North Sea. Block 28/9 is operated by EnCore Oil, holding a 15% interest; Premier Oil holds 35%; Wintershall holds 20%; Nautical Petroleum holds 15%; and Agora Oil & Gas holds 15%.SubseaIQ provides focused, in-depth coverage of offshore field development activities around the world, with daily updates on hundreds of offshore fields and facilities.
