Aminex Rents Rig Offshore Tanzania

Aminex has signed a rental contract to use the Caroil-6 drilling rig at Nyuni Island, offshore Tanzania. The rig will drill the Nyuni-2 well, targeting a large Neocomian-age gas prospect, and the rig will be mobilized to the island within 60 days.

The gas discovery well, Nyuni-1, was drilled and suspended in 2004, having encountered gas in shallower Albian-Aptian sands. Nyuni-2 is an exploration well and will be drilled from the same site as the suspended discovery well, but deviated to the southeast at an angle of about 30 degrees from vertical. The planned total depth of the well is about 9,760 feet (2,975 meters) and the measured depth is about 11,089 feet (3,380 meters).

Aminex, the operator, holds a 65% interest in the Nyuni PSA, held through its wholly-owned subsidiary Ndovu Resources. Other interests in the Nyuni PSA are: RAK Gas Commission 25%, Key 5% and Bounty Oil & Gas Pty Ltd. 5%.
