NPD Gives Marathon Petroleum Green Light to Drill in North Sea

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Marathon a drilling permit for wellbore 25/10-11. The well will be drilled by the Transocean Winner semisub in Production License 505. This is the first well to be drilled in the license.

The well is located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of the Heimdal field and about 112 miles (180 kilometers) west of Haugesund, and lies in a water depth of 1,079 feet (329 meters). Marathon is the operator of the license with a 50% interest. The other licensees are Lundin (30%) and VNG Norway (20%).
