Chevron Strengthens Senior Management

Chevron announced a series of senior management moves in key corporate and upstream leadership positions. These executive appointments are effective March 1, 2011.

James Blackwell has been named executive vice president, Technology and Services. Blackwell, who has been with the company since 1980, is currently president, Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company. In addition to overseeing technology, Blackwell, 52, will be responsible for major capital project management, procurement and several other corporate operating and support functions.

Rhonda Zygocki has also been named executive vice president, Policy and Planning. Zygocki, 53, is currently vice president, Policy, Government and Public Affairs. In her new role, Zygocki's scope of responsibilities will include strategy and planning, and health, environment and safety, along with continuing oversight of policy, government and public affairs.

Blackwell and Zygocki will report to John Watson, chairman and chief executive officer, and serve on the company's Executive Committee.

In addition to these appointments, John Bethancourt, executive vice president Technology and Services, has elected to retire after 36 years of distinguished service. Bethancourt, 59, will stay with the company through June 2011 to assist in the transition of his duties.

In other corporate officer moves, Steve Green, 53, currently managing director for the company's IndoAsia Business Unit in the international upstream business, will become vice president, Policy, Government and Public Affairs. Wes Lohec, 51, currently managing director Latin America Business Unit in the international upstream will become vice president, Health, Environment and Safety. And, Chuck Taylor, 53, currently vice president, Health, Environment and Safety, will become vice president, Strategic Planning. Taylor succeeds Paul Siegele, 51, who is being appointed, president, Chevron Energy Technology Company.

In their new roles, Green, Lohec and Taylor will report to Zygocki.

The company also announced the following changes in its upstream exploration and production organization, reporting to George Kirkland, vice chairman and executive vice president, Upstream and Gas:

• Guy Hollingsworth, 57, will become vice president, Production. Hollingsworth is currently president, Chevron Eurasia, Europe and Middle East Exploration and Production Company.
• James (Jay) Johnson, 51, will become president, Chevron Eurasia, Europe and Middle East Exploration and Production Company. Johnson is currently managing director, Eurasia business unit in the international upstream.
• Melody Meyer, 53, will become president, Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company. Meyer is currently president, Chevron Energy Technology Company.

Johnson and Meyer will join Gary Luquette, president, Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company, and Ali Moshiri, president, Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company, as operating company presidents in the upstream. The role and responsibilities for John Gass, president, Gas and Midstream, are unchanged.

"These moves place seasoned executives in key leadership positions," said John Watson, Chevron chairman and chief executive officer. "Each of these individuals has a proven track record of success across a broad base of experiences."

In commenting on Bethancourt's retirement, Watson said: "I also want to recognize the outstanding contribution that John has made to Chevron and Texaco over the course of nearly four decades. He has been an invaluable member of our senior management team and a leader who distinguished himself in many different roles over his successful career."
